Thanks to The Philanthropist for the 150 Profiles initiative, which put a face to 150 individuals who work or volunteer in Canada’s social sector. It has been a delight this year to look through these little windows into the work and minds of so many passionate and committed folks.
Here's my contribution to the series! In which I share my favourite funny and serious news sources, hint at my carpentry skills and talk about a few of things I hope to see more of in the new year. One is shifting the flow of resources to support initiatives led by people with lived experience. Another is settler Canadians taking responsibility to educate themselves - on a daily basis - about Canada's history and present regarding Indigenous people and colonial relations. Finally, I wish in 2018 for practical, visionary policy about how civil society can be better supported in Canada.
